About Our Founder

North Star was founded by Tony Mataragas, a lifelong basketball player and coach with over 35 years of experience in the game. Tony’s journey spans championship-winning teams at Salem High School and Salem State University, as well as professional play in Europe.

As a coach, Tony has led teams at every level — from youth and recreational leagues to high school varsity, travel, and AAU programs. His deep knowledge, competitive experience, and genuine love for basketball drive his passion for developing the next generation of players.
